Certified Peer Program Educator (CPPE)
BASIC ELIGIBILITY: Peer educators who satisfy the following prerequisites may apply:
1. Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited institution.
2. Member in good standing of the National Association of Peer Program Professionals.
(The applicant, who is not a current member of NAPPP may include an application to NAPPP with the appropriate fees,
concurrently with the CPPE application.)
3. Completion of the Introductory Peer Helping Course and successful completion of the program assessment based on
NAPPP Standards.
4. Pledge in writing to adhere to the NAPPP Programmatic Standards and Code of Ethics.
Note: Peer Educators who due to some extenuating individual circumstances do not satisfy all of the prerequisites may request an exemption in writing from the Professional Development Committee. Such an appeal in writing must accompany the application form. Each appeal will be reviewed on its own merit, but it should also be understood that an appeal does not guarantee a waiver of the prerequisites.
EARNING THE DESIGNATION CERTIFIED PEER PROGRAM EDUCATOR (CPPE): Print and complete the application below and return it along with a non-refundable $35.00 processing fee to the NAPPP Professional Development Committee. Make your check payable to NAPPP. Following verification of data included on the application you will receive your certificate. Additional information about training opportunities and the certification program can be found on the NAPPP website: www.peerprogramprofessionals.org. To continue certification, individuals will be required to pay an annual $20.00 renewal fee and report on their professional growth and development

Certified Organizations with Professional Peer Programs

A district or non-profit organization that has 501 C-3 status can apply for Certified Organizations with Peer Programs status for their entire peer programming effort.
Process:
A Certified Peer Program Educator, in good standing with the NAPPP, will complete a Certified Peer Program application for their building within the district or organization. (The applicant, who is not a current member of NAPPP or a CPPE may include an application to NAPPP and/or an application for CPPE with the appropriate fees, concurrently with the CPP application.) An organization/district must have 3 or more programs or buildings to qualify for COPP status. (Organizations/schools that have 1-2 programs would need to apply for CPP status at the individual rate since the district/group rate would not apply.)
The building principal must sign their building's CPP application.
A representative for each district will gather all of the CPP applications from each building, reviewing them to ensure all information required on the application has been completed. This representative will also complete the COPP application listing their contact information.
The application must include a written pledge to adhere to the NAPPP Program Code of Ethics.
Upon receiving the application, members of the NAPPP Professional Development Committee will review the district/ organization's application, the applications for each building, as well as call the references listed.
Once the application has been reviewed and approved by the Professional Development Committee and the NAPPP board, the district/organization will be notified of its status.
Fee: $100.00/school (non-refundable).
If COPP status is granted, the fee will include:
Review of application
NAPPP membership & Certified Peer Program Educator status for two years for one member in each building covered by the COPP application
COPP status for the district/organization for two years
Renewal: COPP status is good for two years at which time a renewal is required. Each building within the district must complete a new CPP application after two years to ensure current programming information for the building.

Description of training:
The CTC training is designed for individuals who would like to become a consultant
to organization’s interested in developing and implementing peer programming on a
variety of levels and service delivery options. Participants will enhance their basic philosophical tenets and history of peer helping; how to assist someone in program organization; staffing, participant recruitment; as well as basic principles of program evaluation. This two day (total of 14-16 hours) training will feature interactive
experiential formats, structured role playing and a wealth of information.
Suggested Background to take training: “Training of Peer Helpers” and/or
experience in training youth in peer programs and peer program professionals.
This training will help participants to apply for a Certified Peer Program
Trainer/Consultant designation.
CEU’s provided through Social Work, CHES, and Addictions Professionals.
Goals:
The goals of this two-day (14-16 hours) training are:
1. Review and enhance participants with the structure and functioning of peer programming.
